A: For a limited period following the expiry of your domain it can still be recovered without incurring penalty fees. This period varies but is typically 7-10 days following expiry. After this period the domain enters what is know as the Redemption Period.
Q: What is the Redemption Period?
A: An expired domain will enter what is known as the Redemption Period 7-10 days following the expiry of the domain. During the Redemption Period, the domain can only be recovered by the previous owner and the domain is not released for public registration. However, heavy penalty fees must be paid to renew a domain in the Redemption Period. These start at 160 Euros + the standard renewal fees.
It will be several months before the domain is released for public registration once again.
A: If a web site is the online equivalent of a brochure, then web hosting is the online equivalent of a printing and distribution service. Each time someone requests your web site (either by typing your web site address into their browser or by following a link from another site,) then your web hosting service serves up a copy of your web site and sends it to the visitor.
